On the corner of Bieststraat and Nerenweg in Kalken, on the former site of the 'Tissage Vanham' textile factory, we realised the SME project De Weverij. A site with history was thus given a second life as a modern mixed-use business park.

The project comprises 30 high-quality SME units, delivered as a shell with a flexible layout. Each unit can be fully fitted out to the user's specifications – as a workshop, studio or warehouse. With a clear height of up to 8.5 metres and concrete floors with a load-bearing capacity of up to 2.5 tonnes/m², the units are ready for intensive professional use. We also provided ample open-air parking on the site.

The location is a major asset: via the E17, Kalken forms the ideal link between Ghent and Lokeren, with smooth connections to Wetteren, Berlare, Laarne and Lochristi. The striking corner building serves as a recognisable landmark in the heart of the municipality.

From demolition and renovation through structural works to turnkey delivery: this project shows what Vulsteke Bedrijfsgebouwen stands for – sustainable, functional business spaces that give entrepreneurs room to grow.
